Astrid HYLÉN

Postdoctoral researcher at CEREGE

Hej!

I am an MSCA postdoctoral researcher in the Climate team at CEREGE. I am passionate about how humans affect the ocean’s capacity to store carbon. I use experiments, fieldwork and modelling to understand when carbon is degraded or preserved in the seafloor. My aim is to advance our understanding of carbon cycling in coastal environments, to support the management and restoration of coastal systems.
Before joining CEREGE, I did my PhD at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a postdoc at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. My speciality is measuring sediment-water fluxes of dissolved compounds, and I have previously worked on sedimentary nutrient cycling and ocean alkalinity enhancement for CO2 removal.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and travelling, as well as cooking, baking, and eating – anything food-related.
